For parents, at home

Calm, parent-led speech practice at home — while waiting for support

Practical speech support built for real family routines, not rushed sessions. SoundSteps helps parents practice at home with short, guided activities that build confidence over time.

Many families wait months for speech and language support, and during that time it can be unclear what to do at home. SoundSteps is designed to give parents simple, structured guidance so progress doesn’t have to pause while waiting for professional help.

The Challenge Parents Face

Long waiting lists and limited early support mean many families are left trying to help their child without clear guidance. Research shows that speech and language difficulties in early childhood can affect confidence, learning, and social development if support is delayed.

Local services are under increasing pressure, and parents are often advised to wait for assessment before receiving help. During this time, many families want to practise at home but don’t know where to start.

When early support is delayed, difficulties can become more complex, which may affect confidence, learning, and social development, and may require more intensive support later in school and from local services.

Early, consistent support — even in small amounts — can make a meaningful difference, but there are very few simple tools designed for parents to use while waiting for professional intervention.

Delays in early support can make difficulties more complex over time, which may lead to greater challenges for children, families, schools, and local services later on.

Why we're building SoundSteps

SoundSteps started from our own experience. When our child struggled with speech development, we were told to wait for support, with very little guidance on what we could do at home in the meantime.

Like many parents, we wanted something simple we could use every day not just during appointments, but as part of normal family life.

We began building SoundSteps to provide calm, structured speech practice that parents can use at home.

The goal is not to replace speech therapy, but to help families feel more confident and supported while waiting for professional help.

Early access families will help shape the first version so it truly supports real routines.
